Almost nobody manages to get through life without a scar or two. An examination of most people's skin will reveal a story of how a scar was obtained.  It could be the result of an adventure gone wrong, accident or a medical issue that required surgery.

Many surgical procedures result in a permanent scar, and surgeries that involve tissue loss can also alter the skin's structure and appearance.

As a large number of skin cancers, such as a basal cell carcinoma (BCC), occur on areas of the body that are exposed to both the sun's rays and the public's view, patients often feel self-conscious of the subsequent scar resulting from the excision of a BCC. Larger skin cancers may require reconstruction using a skin graft from another area of the body. Minimising the appearance of any scar is optimal but this is especially important when the scar appears on the face.

The below patient presented with a total of four BCCs. The location of the BCCs were the tip of the nose, mid forehead and the left and right and upper arms. The skin cancer on the tip of the nose was diagnosed as a morphemic BCC that required a skin graft.

Post-surgery asap super B complex was applied twice daily to the site of the graft on the tip of the nose and the excision site on the forehead for a period of seven weeks. asap super B complex was not applied to the site of the excisions of BCCs on the arms.

Compare the resulting scars on the arms versus the scars on the face.

Note: There is a clear contrast in the appearance of scaring where asap super B complex, containing Niacinamide (vitamin B3), D-Panthanol (vitamin B5) and crosslinked hyaluronic acid at optimal levels, was applied twice daily.

Niacinamide has many scientifically studied benefits. As a potent anti-oxidant, Niacinamide boost's skin immunity, has a stimulating effect on ceramide synthesis, reduces redness in scars, providing a more even skin tone and promoting healthy skin.

Finally Niacinamide is a proven skin lightening compound that works by inhibiting melanosome transfer from melanocytes to keratinocytes

All skin cancer patients can benefit from ongoing use of asap super B complex as high levels of Niacinamide have been shown to halve the rate of precancerous skin lesions by replenishing cellular energy levels, enhancing DNA in skin cells and preventing UV immunosuppression, according to the Australian College of Dermatologists (2010).

D-Panthanol soothes, softens, hydrates, aids tissue repair and promotes wound healing.

Crosslinked hyaluronic acid, another potent anti-oxidant, has been proven to ensure adequate skin hydration and plasticity of the skin which is essential for optimal wound healing.

Crosslinked hyaluronic acid has a very high water-binding capacity resulting in excellent moisturising abilities. It has five times the moisturising power and 50 times the moisture retaining properties of traditional hyaluronic acid.
